Mindful Everyday Moments - #98: Holding the Door Open

Mindful Everyday Moments - #98: Holding the Door Open

How does it feel when someone opens a door for you, or you do it for someone else?

Does it feel different? Similar?

The other day, Michael was carrying several packages into the post office when he heard, "Let me get that for you."

It was a welcomed gesture and a way to connect. Holding the door open is an action that says, "I see you."

When Michael needed help, someone was there - 15 seconds on either side - who knows? If he wasn't paying attention, would he have missed the chance to receive support?

Many times, others are willing to hold the door open for us. However, if we're too busy to notice or believe we're not worthy of support or prefer to be the door holder but are unwilling to let others do the same in return, we miss opportunities to connect.
