Mindful Everyday Moment: #80 Feeling Balanced
After my accident, my balance was way off, and it was challenging to walk barefoot due to my neuropathic pain. To manage, I always wore shoes - customized Stan Smith Adidas to be precise. They made it easier to get around, but my tiny muscles essential for balance began to weaken. Then I found yoga.
I was always hesitant to start yoga because I thought it was all about flexibility, and I was certainly not that, but I discovered that yoga is more than being bendy. It was also about balance, strength, and alignment.
When I started, I would tip over like a teapot, but I kept at it day by day. Then the other day, I noticed that I finally felt balanced. The sensation began in the balls of my feet and then rippled up my core. What a moment.
Over the last twenty years or so, there's been a lot of discussion about work-life balance. I know it's something that most want, but what does it feel like? How do you know that you're in balance? Since it might only be for a moment, it might be good to know what it feels like so you don't miss it.
Let me know your thoughts.
